Download a blank answer key
Record the correct option and marking rules before configuring the exam. Each printable PDF has numbered spaces; the CSV adds editable marks and deduction columns.
What to enter in the CSV
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| question | Question number in this paper set |
| correct_option | A, B, C, D or E for a single correct option |
| positive_marks | Marks awarded for a correct answer |
| wrong_penalty / blank_penalty | Non-negative deduction amounts |
| topic | Optional teaching topic |
These tables are planning records, not ScanScore import files. Enter or scan the answer key in ScanScore using its supported workflow. Follow the answer-key setup tutorial.
Check the key before students start
- Match every question number to the printed paper.
- Check that the option letters exist on the selected OMR sheet.
- Use the marking calculator to verify a sample score.
- Keep a separately named key for each shuffled set, and record any corrected or cancelled questions.
Common questions
Can I import the CSV directly into ScanScore?
This is a planning and record-keeping table, not a ScanScore import file. Use it as a reference when entering the answer key in the app.
How should I handle multiple paper sets?
Keep a separate key for each set and name each file clearly. Question numbers and correct answers must correspond to that set's printed paper.
What do the penalty columns mean?
Enter the positive marks awarded for a correct answer and non-negative deduction amounts for wrong or unanswered answers. Apply those settings when configuring your exam.
