ScanScore is a free phone OMR scanner for Android. This page is the short route from “I want to try it” to a first marked sheet: where to download it, what you need, and the first five minutes after installing.
What you need
- An Android phone on Android 7.0 or newer.
- A working rear camera.
- A printer and plain A4 paper (any printer, black ink).
- Internet only for the download itself.
Older or budget phone? See scanning on a budget Android phone. On an iPhone, scanning is not available; the web dashboard and question paper writer work in any browser.
Install
- Open the ScanScore page on Google Play on your phone.
- Tap Install and wait for it to finish.
- Open the app and allow camera access when asked — it is needed to scan sheets.
Your first five minutes
- Create an exam with five questions and four options.
- Enter a key — tap the answers.
- Print the sheet and fill it in with a dark pen.
- Scan it. The score appears in about four seconds.
A fuller walk-through is in the step-by-step setup guide. Practise filling with the student guide.
What is free, and what is not
Making exams, printing sheets, scanning, marking, analytics on the phone, PDF and CSV export and WhatsApp sharing are free, with no scan limit. Paid plans add backup, the web dashboard, parent access, online tests and AI. See why scanning can be unlimited.
