Use this guide with a free ScanScore resource
- Class result analysis spreadsheet — A formula-ready workbook for marks, ranks, class averages and pass rates.
Scanning gives you a mark per student. What a teacher wants next is a picture of the class: average, spread, who passed, who is top and what the ranks are. The class result analysis spreadsheet is a ready-made workbook (with an editable CSV) that turns a column of marks into exactly that.
What the spreadsheet calculates
- Score percentages for each student.
- Competition ranks — equal scores share a rank, and the next rank is skipped (1, 2, 2, 4).
- Class average and pass rate against a pass mark you set.
- A worked example so you can see the formulas before using your own data.
Using it with scan results
- Scan the class in ScanScore.
- Export the results as CSV — see exporting results.
- Paste the roll numbers and marks into the template.
- Read the averages, ranks and pass rate.
Spreadsheet or app?
The app already shows the rank list, averages, medians, pass rate and the questions most students missed, with no spreadsheet at all — see class result analysis and rank lists. Use the spreadsheet when you want to combine several tests, share an editable file, or apply your own school’s rules.
