You do not need an OMR machine to check an OMR sheet. A phone with a decent camera, an answer key and an app that understands bubble sheets are enough. This is the whole process, from the empty sheet to a finished class result.
Before you scan
- Install ScanScore on an Android 7.0+ phone.
- Create the exam and enter the answer key. See how to set the key.
- Print the sheet from the exam. Settings are in printing tips.
- Have students fill sheets properly: the student guide.
Scanning step by step
- Open the exam and tap scan.
- Lay the sheet flat under even light.
- Frame the whole sheet: all four corner marks inside the picture.
- Hold steady. The app captures when the paper is square and still.
- Read the result: score, right, wrong and blank, on screen in about four seconds.
- Review if flagged, then save.
A whole pile
Batch mode keeps the camera ready: slide the scanned sheet out, put the next one down, and it captures again. A class of forty takes a few minutes. The workflow is in checking MCQ answer sheets fast.
If something looks wrong
Most problems are light, a curled sheet or a corner cut off by the printer. Work through the OMR scan fixes list. For an unclear bubble, open the paper and correct it by hand before saving.
After the scan
- See the rank list and class averages: class result analysis.
- Send scorecards to parents: results on WhatsApp.
- Download PDF or CSV: exporting results.
